“Ban On Exportation Of Beans Produce To EU Countries Has Brought A Huge Loss To Nigeria” – Acting Director General Of NAFDAC

The Acting Director General, National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni, has stated that the ban on the exportation of beans produce to the European Union countries imposed on Nigeria by the European Food Safety Authority has resulted in economic loss to the country.

She said this at the weekend while addressing the EU/Dutch team that visited the Central Laboratory of NAFDAC in Lagos to inspect the procedures of the regulatory agency to ensure that future export of beans and other agricultural produce from Nigeria meet the standards of importing countries.

“The ban has brought about a huge economic loss in the sense that Nigeria has large expanse of land, we have a lot of farmers that produce beans and the beans are not able to go out,” she noted, adding that agricultural produce that passes through the agency never gets rejected because of the rigorous process it goes through before certification.

Thus, she maintained that the beans which resulted in the ban by the authority because they were found to contain more than the necessary amount of insecticide were smuggled out of the country and did not pass through the agency.

“The ban was placed about a year ago due to high insecticide residue in beans but let me sound a note of caution here that the beans that were rejected never passed through NAFDAC, they were beans produce smuggled out of the country,” she said.

The Gathering Of Vultures - By Femi Fani-Kayode

Article written by FFK. Read below...
The vultures are circling yet I am not disturbed because they cannot eat my flesh. The wolves are howling yet I shall not retreat because they cannot crush my bones. The bullies are threatening yet I shall not bow because they cannot break my spirit or conquer my soul. The demons are baying yet I shall not fear because they cannot drink my blood. The liars are lying yet I shall not be deterred for I know the Ancient of Days, the mighty God that I serve.
The foxes are plotting yet I shall not be moved and I shall treat them with the contempt and disdain that they deserve. The snakes are hissing yet I am not perturbed knowing that their poison and hate cannot overwhelm or blind me. The dogs are barking yet I continue to rejoice, knowing that lions do not tremble at the bark of an accursed mongrel.

The Accuser of the Brethren has begun his devlish work of slander yet I shall lose no sleep, knowing that in the end truth always prevails. There is evil in the land and the ravenous beasts of our dark forest are roaring, yet I shall not run.

As always, I shall stand and I shall fight. As always I will speak against the persecution of the innocent and the cruelty and injustice of the wicked. As always I will resist the hidden agenda to violate our nations secularity and to Islamise our nation.

As always I shall preach the equality of all men and the humanity of all souls. As always I will stand against the enthronement and the empowerment of bloodthirsty and evil men. As always I shall stand against the terrorists and jihadists in our midst who have wrought destruction on our nation and who have shattered the lives of so many.

As always I shall speak up for the oppressed, the voiceless, the weak, the vulnerable, the misrepresented, the hated and the despised. As always I will resist the cruelty that has been inflicted upon the unlawful captive and those who have been subjected to an unconstitutional, unlawful and indefinite detention.

As always I shall speak against the violation of court orders and the intimidation and humiliation of the Judiciary. As always I shall oppose a foreign policy that turns our nation into a shadow of her once glorious past and nothing more than an appendage of the Salifists and Wahabbists of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

As always I will speak out against violence, genocide, ethnic cleansing and all crimes against humanity. As always I shall speak up for the vulnerable, the weak, the less privilaged and the deprived. As always I shall stand against the tyrants and despots that use their position of power and privilage to destroy the lives of others.

As always I shall stand against state-sponsored murder and politically-inspired and selective criminal prosecutions.

As always I shall speak the bitter truth and voice my support for the self-determination and the liberation of the oppressed ethnic nationalities of Nigeria, including those of the Middle Belt, the south-east and the south-south.

As always I will resist those that abduct our citizens, commit rape, indulge in mass murder and that torment our people with their satanic hordes and demonic herds all in an attempt to subjugate and conquer us and impose their will.

As always I will oppose pedophelia, child rape and the abduction, enslavement and forced islamisation of little girls in distant lands and sinister palaces. As always I will fight a good fight and stand for truth. As always I will stand against the licensing of Churches and the violation of our constitutionally-guaranteed religious freedoms. As always I will stand against those who ban prayers in our schools. As always I will gladly offer my very life as a living sacrifice for my faith and I will defend the honor and dignity of Christianity wherever I go.

No matter what they say or do, as long as God gives me life, I shall never be silenced. I shall fulfill my destiny because His love will see me through and it will nullify their evil projections and manifest hate. The vultures are circling yet I am not disturbed because they cannot eat my flesh. In my case they say it is personal and that they have a score to settle. They say that they have been told by their idol and their little god to ''punish me ruthlessly for my insolence'' and ''to give me hell''.

Others have tried before and I saw their end. I await them: let the God that answers by fire, let Him be my God. In the meantime I count it all as joy, for in the end my innocence shall speak for me and I shall prevail. Until then let them be rest assured of one thing: I have no fear because the Lord is with me. I make my boast in Him and none other.

Without Him I am nothing but with Him I am everything. No matter how long it takes He will never abandon me because I have done absolutely nothing wrong. As long as Jesus is on the throne He will preserve my life and I shall fulfill the purpose for which He gave it to me.

They shall not thwart that purpose, they shall not break me, they shall not destroy me and neither shall they have their wicked way with me. They shall fall into the pit that they have dug for me themselves and their end shall be bitter. The bible says "He suffered no man to do them wrong. He reproved kings for their sake saying 'touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm' ". They seek to touch the anointed of the Lord: let us put God's word to the test.

“I’m Optimistic The Nation’s Power Problems Can Be Solved” – Babatunde Fashola

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has expressed his optimism that the problems affecting the nation’s power sector can be solved.

He did this while chairing the third monthly meeting of key operators in the nation’s power industry that held at the Ugwuaji Transmission Station in Enugu, as part of his efforts to identify, discuss and find practical solutions to issues facing the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.

At the meeting, like the first two editions which held in Lagos and Abuja respectively, Fashola insisted, presented an avenue for resolving pressing issues in the sector. He said issues addressed at each meeting had added value to the businesses of the participants and stakeholders in the power value chain.

He then gave his word to journalists and all present at the meeting thus, “My word to Nigerians is that this problem can be solved. It is a problem that has challenged us for a long time. Not only am I going around to understand what the problems are, I am at Ugwuaji now in Enugu State, I am going around to understand what I am supposed to manage. I have been briefed on paper, in files and in memos and I am going from power plant to power plant, from transmission site to transmission site. What I have seen convinces me that this problem can be solved.”

He added, “I am optimistic that it can be solved, it just needs for us as a people to understand the system better and how it works. I am going to dedicate some of my time to breaking down the technical issues that have sounded so complex over the decades, so that the average Nigerian can understand how the system works.”

Doyin Okupe Says Wike, Amaechi & Their Aides Should Be Moved To Protective Custody Before The Scheduled Dates Of Future Elections

Following the violence that was recorded in last Saturday's rerun election in Rivers state, former media aide to former president Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, has suggested that state governor, Nyesom Wike, his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, and all their associates should be moved into protective custody before and on the day of any future election in the state. Doyin said this in a post on his Facebook wall this afternoon
"For the next re run in rivers, Gov Wike, and Amechi and at least 10 of their proven closest aides must be moved out of rivers state into protective custody, deprived of their phones for a day before the new elections and on the day of elections."he said Read his full post after the cut ...
The scale of violence that accompanied the Rivers Re run elections is condemnable and unacceptable. All principal participants must accept responsibility for this intolerable acts savagery. By all principals I mean, pdp,APC and their leaderships, the Inec, and the entire gamut of our security agencies. In 2016, the wanton destruction of lives and properties that accompany our elections in varying degrees is no longer excusable.

The frequent deaths of citizens, electoral officials, members of the security forces has assumed highly barbaric proportions. Of particular importance is the reported death of innocent Youth corpers. As a Nigerian parent whose children will still go through this national calling, I cease this opportunity to call on other Nigerian parents and well meaning Nigerians to prevail on Inec to stop with immediate effect the deployment of our children for electoral services.

We can no longer bear the pain of losing our wards to mindless acts of lawlessness by thugs and hooligans acting for and on behalf of reckless, desperate and irresponsible politicians and power mongers. Inec stands accused in all this dastardly developments.

Before going into an election in any volatile area they ought to obtain full security reports of the area in question and also confer with the police and the army to get written assurance that they can guarantee the security of electoral materials and officers. Firstly it is unacceptable that Inec will still be involved in moving electoral materials all over the place on election day.

All materials for election must arrive all LGA headquarters 2weeks before election day. They must arrive all wards one whole week before elections, only to be moved to the polling stations accompanied by security in the morning of the elections. All personnel including security, should be at the wards at least 2days before the elections and be familiarised with their areas of duty and their security details before the D Day.

In special volatile areas like rivers and others as to be advised by police and the intelligence agencies, a minimum of 5 armed personnels per polling station with availability of standby re enforcement in each LGA quarters. If it is impossible for any reason that these provisions can be made available, elections in such areas must be deferred.

In the case of this re run in rivers, Inec the main organ empowered by our laws to conduct and oversee elections ought to have correctly projected these events and prevented it by breaking the elections into two episodes separated by one week. It is not acceptable for Inec, after its publicly manifested incompetence, to just come up after each mayhem, technical and administrative failure, and announce gleefully that the elections are "Inconclusive".

If the present leadership in Inec are incompetent, the federal government should not waste time and continue to expose the citizenry to misery and pain. The entire organization should be overhauled. The security agencies must keep their roles to their professional calling.

Voting and the processes that are before or after it is not their business. Politicians, thugs and all persons involved directly or indirectly in acts of violence should be tried and if found guilty should be sanctioned with punishments ranging from death sentences to life imprisonment depending on their level of involvement. For the next re run in rivers, Gov Wike, and Amechi and at least 10 of their proven closest aides must be moved out of rivers state into protective custody, deprived of their phones for a day before the new elections and on the day of elections. Enough of violence in our elections.

Those Asking Me To Account For Abacha’s Loot Are Stupid - Obasanjo

Obasanjo says those asking for him to account for all the recovered Abacha loots are stupid. According to the 79 year old former president, the Abacha loot recovered when he served as president from 1999-2007 were handed to the then Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and so all questions about the recovered look should be directed at them.

He said this in an interview with Vanguard over the weekend
"They said the money recovered from Abacha, I should account for it. What stupidity! The man who asked for it, the man who gave the judgement or who answered them are all stupid, with due respect. I don’t keep account, all Abacha loots were sent to Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and every bit of it was reported to Minister of Finance. My job was to write where we can get help to recover the money.‎ Every penny that comes out of it went to CBN, so if they want to know what happened to the money, they should call CBN governor or call the Minister of Finance. But again, it shows ignorance, total ignorance, which is lacking and you wonder, are these people educated? They can also approach the man who helped us in recovering process to give the list of money recovered and where he took it.” he said‎

Obama Becomes The First President To Visit Cuba In 88 Years

President Barack Obama arrived in Cuba on Sunday on a historic visit, opening a new chapter in U.S. engagement with the Cuban Communist government after almost 10 decades of animosity between both countries.

Obama landed at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport aboard Air Force One, the presidential jet with "United States of America" emblazoned across it. The president immediately tweeted that he had touched down in Cuba.

Stepping down onto the red carpet under the rain, Obama and his family were greeted by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, the top Cuban official present but the current president, Raul Castro wasn't there to meet him. Raul Castro will meet Obama at a formal welcoming ceremony which will be on Monday at the presidential palace.

Of course Donald Trump had something to say about Raul Castro not meeting Obama right away.

Obama traveled with his wife, the first lady Michelle Obama, her mother and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, the first family first met with staff of the newly reopened U.S. Embassy at a Havana hotel.

The president said:
'Back in 1928, President Coolidge came on a battleship, it took him three days to get here. It only took me three hours.
'Having a US embassy means we're more effectively able to advance our values, our interests and understand more effectively.

'This is a historic visit and a historic opportunity. I know it's been a pretty busy seven months. But I want you to know, everything we've accomplished so far, it's all happening because of you. Every day you're bringing the US and Cuba closer together.'

Speaking to diplomatic staff, he added:

'I'm so glad you brought your families here because I always like taking pictures with kids. Their future is what we all work for so hard and I'm so grateful to all of you for making it happen.'

The three-day trip, the first by a U.S. president to Cuba in 88 years, is the culmination of a diplomatic opening announced by Obama and Castro in December 2014, ending a Cold War-era estrangement that began when the Cuban revolution ousted a pro-American government in 1959.

The Obamas then took in the sights of Old Havana, drawing cheers from small crowds of Cubans and foreign tourists. Obama was also hosted on a tour of Havana's 18th century cathedral by Cardinal Jaime Ortega, who played a key role in secret talks that led to the rapprochement 15 months ago.

"It's a historic opportunity to engage directly with the Cuban people," Obama told U.S. diplomats.

This visit makes Obama the first sitting American president to visit Cuba since Calvin Coolidge arrived on a battleship in 1928.

Before Obama arrived, the Cuban police, backed by hundreds of pro-government demonstrators, broke up the regular march of a leading dissident group, the Ladies in White, detaining about 50 people.

The Cuban people are hoping Obama would advice Cuban president Raul Castro to treat people more humanely, create jobs, freedom and create basic human rights to Cubans.

Elizardo Sanchez, head of the Cuban Commission on Human Rights and National Reconciliation, said from his home Saturday that he hoped Obama would deliver a strong message to the Cubans. His commission has documented a rise in arrests following Cuba's opening with the U.S. so he said he has no reason to think the arrests will stop just because Obama was coming to town.

"Neither President Obama, nor the Cuban people, expect spectacular changes," Sanchez said. "These kinds of regimes are repressive. It's necessary to maintain their power. So no matter what Obama says or does, it's impossible to put a good face on the human rights situation here in Cuba."
