I Have Ordered Security Agencies To Deal Decisively With Rampaging Herdsmen- Buhari Tells Catholic Bishops

Against the background of reports of continued attacks on communities across the country by armed herdsmen, President Buhari yesterday May 2nd in Abuja restated his administration’s resolve to deal decisively and expeditiously with the matter.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Buhari confirmed that heads of national security agencies have been ordered to take all necessary action to apprehend and expose those behind the heinous attacks.

The Bishops were led by Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Archbishop of Jos.
“We are determined to secure all Nigerians and I have told the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies, in very strong terms, to deal decisively with the attackers,” the president said, according to a statement signed by spokesperson, Femi Adesina. President Buhari expressed his condolences to the Catholic Bishop of Enugu, the people of Ukpabi Nimbo and all other communities that have suffered fatalities and other losses from the recent attacks.
Speaking on other national issues, the president assured the Bishops that he was acting with deliberation and moving methodically to implement his change agenda for the good of the country.
“We need to rebuild our institutions methodically, we need to change the way we do things. In the last 10 years, crude oil sold for more than $100 per barrel, but Nigeria did not save. That is why we have found ourselves where we are today,” the president said.
He assured the bishops that his administration was working very hard to fulfill all the promises it had made to Nigerians, adding that his greatest motivating factor now is the desire to bring positive change to Nigeria. On behalf of the bishops, Most Rev. Kaigama expressed the solidarity of the CBCN with the president.
“We are willing to collaborate with you and with your administration, in which we see hope for a greater Nigeria,” he told the president. The bishops pledged continued prayers for Nigeria and the government, expressing their conviction that current hardships are temporary, and Nigeria will soon overcome its present difficulties.

23-Year-Old Stanley Etim Allegedly Tortured To Death By Policemen In Calabar, Finally Laid To Rest

The remains of a 23-year-old shop keeper who died in police custody was laid to rest last weekend at Hawkins cemetary, Calabar South, Cross River State.

Late Stanley Etim was picked from his work place (Sparkz shop Etta Agbor, Calabar) on February 5, 2015 by a team of policemen from SCID, Diamond Hill Calabar, over allegations of armed robbery.

He was thoroughly beaten up by the policemen despite pleas from his boss and dragged into their waiting van

According to Cross River Watch, the accused policemen, Inspector Unoh Egwu, Sergeant Peter Njoku, Corporal Bassey Okim and late Inspector Uche Aligu who died last year, have all been dismissed from the Police following the recommendations of the Adjudicating Officer (Divisional Police Officer of Airport Police Station Mr. Asuquo Ebong) in the orderly room trial. Late Aligu allegedly died after allegations that he went to do charms and on returning he had an accident around Akamkpa and died

The dismissed policemen claimed that the victim died of stomach ulcer but an autopsy report carried out on  April, 22, 2015 in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) confirmed the cause of death was as a result of torture. The body had "extensive blunt head and link (upper and lower) injuries"

"The autopsy result which was facilitated by a police medical doctor from the Force Headquarters Abuja was signed by Dr. Irabor Godstime Isi, MBBS2, NWACP witnessed by Omuruyi Kemveth A. of the Department of Histopathology, UCTH.

Ex-Militant Leader Tompolo Begins “Fasting And Praying” For God’s Intervention In His Present Troubles

Vanguard reports that ex-militant leader Government Ekpemukpolo, alias Tompolo has begun fasting and prayers to God for His divine intervention in his present problems.

Tompolo who went underground following a bench warrant issued for his arrest by a Federal High Court in Lagos was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Police in January.

Media Adviser and Consultant to Tompolo, Paul Bebenimibo, who was contacted by Vanguard said:

When one is in travail, which is his case, you will take your case to God and that is what he has done. I can confirm to you that Tompolo is presently on fasting and prayers to God so that He will intervene because he knows that He is a God of justice and will fight for him because he is innocent.

Tompolo who approached a Federal High Court few weeks back to commence legal action to restrain the Federal Government from proceeding with the N45.9 billion fraud charges filed against him, also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of some members of the All Progressive Congress, APC particularly from Bayelsa and Delta states and also investigate some of the servicing companies engaged in repairing damaged pipelines.

It is very important to let Mr. President and the security agencies in the country know that some members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, particularly from Bayelsa and Delta States, are not happy with him (President Buhari) because they have not gotten anything from him after almost a year since he assumed office by way of appointments and contracts.

Therefore, some of them are involved in nefarious activities in the oil and gas sector to be engaged in pipeline surveillance. I am aware of how such persons are chasing the Minister of Petroleum for State, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu around. It is my humble advice to the Federal Government to investigate some of the servicing companies engaged in repairing damaged pipelines, as sabotage on their part is not ruled out.

"Being Married To The Same Person For Almost 38 Years Has Taught Me That Marriage Is No Moimoi..." Charly Boy

Saddened by the rate of marriage breakups nowadays, Charly boy has offered to counsel couples who are having challenges in their marriages. He shared a photo with his wife of 38 years, Diana along with his personal contact number, adding that the calls will be strictly confidential.
"Talk to me I swear, I am very saddened how the marriage institution is going down the drain these days. Young people are no longer responsible or disciplined enough to stick it out in any given relationship and I fear that in the next five years, marriage as we know it, may become old fashion. Na Wa!!
A while back, I was talking to one of my sons who at 38 still can't rap his head around the permanence of marriage and this gave me cause for concern when he asked me, "why must marriage be forever or for better for worse, and couldn’t it be for maybe a few years as mutually agreed."
I may be old/new school, but I still believe in Family and Marriage.
I believe that every human being is created to have a desire to be married and some have a desire to be single. But most of us want to be married. So, you CANT have a healthy marriage with unhealthy habits. Mbanu!!!
Whether or not a young couple stay together often depends on why they got married in the first place. Take it from me, It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.
Being married to the same person for almost 38 years has thought me that marriage is no moimoi, neither is it beans and rice. Both parties must work at it daily and must give all of himself /herself everyday, forever. For me and my wife we are committed to managing each other because the devil we know is better than the Angel to come. Marriage like I keep saying is how we maturely deal with our incompatibility rather than our compatibility.
So if you are having challenges in your marriage, and you really want to stay married but need to talk to someone to share your problems with, you can call me on 08033076993, maybe we will learn a thing or two from each other.
Your call will be strictly confidential"

After returning from the war, the twins bought motor homes with their husbands and traveled to all 50 states in the US, visited 8 countries in Europe and vacationed in Tahiti.

When asked how they felt about being famous, Mary said, “I don’t think we’re famous. I just think we’re old.”

The two walk for 30 minutes each day at a nearby gym, and you’ll find them at the hair salon every Friday, always dressed alike. They both moved into the same room together, just in case one of them ever needs any help in the middle of the night.

Bode George Calls Fayose An “Ingrate” For Saying Elderly People In PDP Should Take Backstage

                                                             Bode George

Following Governor Ayo Fayose‘s interview on Channels Television where he said he would not support his intention to be the Party’s Chairman, Bode George has described the governor as an “ingrate” and said he spoke “immaturely”.

Fayose in the interview, said that all the elderly people in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP should take the backstage as people are tired of seeing the same old faces again.

“Chief Bode George told me personally that he wanted to be the national chairman of the party, I told him no, that I won’t support him. With all due respect to the elderly people in this party, they must take the backstage. People are tired of seeing the same old faces again,” Fayose said.

In an interview with PUNCH on Monday, George said that:

Fayose spoke very immaturely during the interview. For him to have said that the founding fathers of the party should take the backstage in the party’s affairs was very disgusting and self-deceitful. I actually told him at an old meeting of the party that if the chairmanship of the PDP was zoned to the South-West, that I would show interest. He told me he had heard.

Fayose is an ingrate because when the world was against him during his first term in office, God used me to give him support. I contributed N250,000 to purchase his campaign clothes. We must defend the interest of Yoruba because we have been sidelined in the party’s leadership for too long. Fayose and Senator Buruji Kashamu cannot continue to decide for the Yoruba people in the PDP.

He pointed out that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC John Odigie-Oyegun, was older than him.

George also said Fayose lied that South-West PDP leaders did not show interest in contesting the national chairmanship position. He added that Fayose’s claim that he reached out to Senator Bode Olajumoke to contest the chairmanship position was not true.

He also told the Ekiti state governor to go and read the Bible to learn more about leadership.

“Fayose claims to be a Christian. Let him go and read the book of Micah, chapter 7, from verse 1-10 to learn more about leadership.  Many people showed interest from the South-West, even Professor Tunde Adeniran showed interest. Bode (Olajumoke) knows that Fayose is playing around. Bode and I discussed because we are friends,” he said.

Reduce Your Workforce Instead Of Seeking Bailout Funds – Doyin Okupe Tells Governors

Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe who was former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on all state governments to downsize their workforce instead of always seeking bailout funds from the federal government.

Okupe in a statement signed by himself declared that all state governments in the country already have too many staff performing less jobs, and that the state government should reduce them. He said that it is not sustainable for states to use about 70 – 80 percent of its resources to pay salaries of civil servants who constitute about 10 percent of its population.

Read his statement below:

Firstly, virtually all state governments in the country have over bloated civil service. At some point between 2008 and 2009, Ogun state received N2b monthly from the federation account and paid out N1.8b as staff salaries, wages and overhead costs!

The total staff strength was about 50,000 while the population of the state was about 5,000,000. An obvious socio economic absurdity and incongruity therefore existed where 10 per cent  of the population was consuming 90 per cent of the wealth of the state.

We do not need a soothsayer or an economic guru to foretell that this is unsustainable. In many States the percentage of the resources of the state that is consumed by the civil service ranges between 70 per cent  to 80 per cent by not more than 10 per cent of its population.

A basic economic dictum says ‘if expenditure cannot be controlled, then internal demands must be curtailed’. Without doubt therefore, all state governments must immediately start the process of downsizing their workforce  with reasonable cushions for those who will be affected.

Herdsmen Allegedly Kill Monarch, Nephew In Kaduna

Suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly unleashed violence on the residents of Southern Kaduna killing the traditional ruler of the Fadan Karshi district in Sanga Local Council, Bala Madaki and his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko, in a night attack. Narrating what happened, a resident of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity, said;

“Prior to the latest attack, the district head had applied an insecticide in his room and was sleeping outside his big compound when the Fulani unleashed the attack. We heard a gunshot and everyone woke up and ran into their various rooms around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. The gunmen followed the district head right inside his room and killed him”.
Another resident of the community who is a traditional title holder said they now live in fear. He said the gunmen who attacked the community spoke Fulani.
"We don’t know what is happening. We hardly sleep here with our eyes closed since 2013 when gunmen invaded our communities. These gunmen speak Fulani. Many people are being killed frequently, including women, youth, children and traditional rulers. Something must be done urgently.”
Another resident of the community said “It was very hot inside and people were sleeping outside. Around 10:00 p.m., the chief moved into his house with his family. Then some gunmen, who our people said were Fulani, stormed his compound and started shooting. They went into his room and shot him pointblank. They also shot a small boy, Emmanuel Tanko, who was writing his final year secondary school exams. The boy was a nephew of the late chief. Right now, Fadan Karshi is deserted. Shops and service centres are shut. People are either staying in-doors or are leaving the town. No one knows what is coming next. Police are patrolling the streets, but I am not sure if they have any clue about the murderers. I want you to recall that this was the district head that received former governor, Mukhtar Yero, on September 22, 2014 when our women protested half- naked because of the scale of killings by the Fulani going on at that time. Today, the type of killings going on is murdering of isolated people. Cattle are also grazing freely on people’s farms in these areas of Sanga and people are afraid to do anything about it. Now, they are targeting people and eliminating them. What people are saying about the killings of our district head is that he might have been killed by the Fulani who have a grudge with this community and the ruler.”
Meanwhile the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned the killings and appealed for calm .
