Comedian AY Writes an Open Letter To Nigerians To be Fair With Their Judgement On The MD Of Lekki Garden

AY the Comedian who was once an ambassador of Lekki Gardens, has written an open letter to Nigerians asking people to be fair to the MD of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ebutte Metta over the death of 35 people in the collapse of a 5-storey building which was being constructed by his company in Lekki, Lagos. Read AY's letter which he posted on his Instagram page after the cut ...

"The Collapse of the Lekki Garden building is indeed an unforeseen tragedy that still hits me all the way to my soul. My deepest sympathy and condolences to those people who have died, been hurt and people who lost their love ones. As a one-time ambassador to Lekki Gardens, it will be difficult to disengage myself from the company whose vision was designed to help every common man to becoming landlords in Nigeria. In times like this we are one family. Let us standup and pray for all the families who have suffered and wish them peace in knowing that their loved ones may have gone on ahead of them to be with God Almighty. I know there is nothing I can say to ease anyone's sorrow, but this is just to let these families know that my thoughts are with them. As we sympathize with the families of the bereaved, let me clearly state that every human life is of inevitable value. No sentiment or general conviction would justify the sacrifice of human life. For this reason I have maintained a position of silence because of my affiliations with Lekki Gardens. The care of human life and property is one of the core responsibilities of a good government. Hence I will also not blame the government and their ‘quick response’ actions against the management of Lekki Gardens. Finally, I do know that the social Media is now for the good, the bad and the ugly. It is even more of an open battlefield, where abuses fly from one to another, destroying lives, self-esteem and individual self-worth. As much as I still believe in the vision of Mr Richard Nyong’s Lekki Garden Real Estate project that has delivered over 6,000 homes to Nigerians, I want to hold hands with the Lekki Gardens family and grow stronger during this time of despair, and pray for a man whom has become a victim of circumstance. A man who truly cares for others. A man who has helped a lot of people within and outside his community. A man who single handedly handled the constructions and repairs of Government roads within Lekki. A creator of employment to thousands. This is not to position him above the law, it is a beacon for fairness within due process, peace and justice. #letsbefair "

Desist From Criticizing President Buhari's Foreign Trips, Bauchi State Governor, Abdullahi Abubakar Warns Opposition

Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has warned opposition politicians in Nigeria to desist from criticizing President Buhari’s foreign trips and allegation of being too slow in dealing with the major challenges facing the nation, a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Abubakar al-Sadique reads.

The Governor who gave this warning in Burra on Sunday, March 13 at the distribution of empowerment materials presented by the member representing Burra constituency at the state house of assembly, Honourable Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulqadir said it is unfair to accuse the All Progressives Congress governments at various levels which have only been in office for less than a year "for not doing enough to clear the inherited rot" made by the past administrations in 16 years.

He said for anybody to accuse the All Progressives Congress administrations for being slow, the APC administrations should be allowed to spend 16 years in office before such “conclusions can be reached”. Governor Abubakar noted that the state of insecurity the country found itself under the past administration has become a thing a past under the president administration, but regretted that the critics of the administration appeared to have forgotten all that, and added that score is made “in the anticorruption crusade launched by the President”.

The Governor therefore charged the opposition to scout for better issues of national interest to engage the APC administrations on and stop criticizing the foreign trips of the President and the anticorruption campaign launched by his administration. He explained that since the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office last year, the nation’s economic fortunes have been dwindling.

He said with the blockades of leakages and loopholes through which public treasury was being siphoned as well as foreign trips embarked upon by the president, adequate resources that will finance more than half of the 2016 budget have been saved by the President.

The Governor assured that the President and all APC governors are working assiduously to turn around the economy and reduced over dependence on oil revenue.

Nigerians Complaining Of Hardship Are PDP Loyalists –Ngige

Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige, says Nigerians who are complaining of hardship in this present administration are PDP loyalists. According to Ngige, this government which will be marking it's first anniversary on May 29th, is working towards the betterment of Nigerians. He said this in a recent interview with The Sun ‎

"I don’t know what you mean by hardship and those you call Nigerians. Are they the federal civil servants getting their monthly salaries as and when due? We don’t owe them, not even allowances and there is no reason they should be unhappy with the APC government. Are the okada riders among those complaining when they are making brisk businesses or the graduates we will soon address their problem of unemployment after the passage of the budget? Unemployment is the harbinger of Boko Haramism, harbinger of IPOBism, OPCism and militancy in the Niger Delta. It is a scourge and serious disease condition that we must fight and that is why we are in this ministry and government. We have job creation programmes under the supervision of the Vice President and other inter-ministerial ones that will be rolled out very soon. By the time we roll out, more funds will be put into the economy. Let us warn that the funds are not for stealing. The only difference between APC and PDP is the stealing of the lots of floating funds. Many of the elite were grabbing these floating funds and they are the ones protesting that they are not happy with the present government. Those complaining especially the elite are members or loyalists of the PDP. We are not bothered because we are going to continue with our common-people’s programme and I want to assure that the tide will soon change. So, we are waiting for the budget. Don’t forget that we are not the ones that appropriate funds but the National Assembly. We have given them budget, done some alterations and amendments as needs be in areas where some people try to mutilate and we are waiting for now. Once they approve the budget as proposed, we roll out our programmes"he said

Wike Lacks Capacity To Govern Rivers State - Amaechi

Former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has accused his successor, governor Nyesom  Wike of lacking the political will and capacity to govern Rivers State.

Amaechi stated this on Sunday at an APC rally in Rumueme, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, ahead of the state and national assembly elections on Saturday.

Amaechi said, “Wike lacks capacity to govern. Somebody who just knows how to steal money is a bushman. Wike said, am corrupt. He should bring evidence to show. I will bring evidence to show that Wike is corrupt. Wike did the Rukpoku/ Eneka road during my tenure he did not complete it. I gave Wike the contracts to do all the roads around Aristle House(a hotel in GRA) but he failed to do them, I gave him fourteen schools to give to Obio/Akpor people, he stole them, he lacks character”.

Also speaking on the security situation in the state, Amaechi said, “When I was the governor, one thing that I kept thinking of was how to chase these criminals away but under Nyesom Wike, he meets with them. If Wike does not secure you people, the federal government will secure you. If he doesn’t want to be ignored he should go and secure you people because federal government will no longer tolerate these killings in Rivers State.

Amaechi further told his supporters not to be intimidated by Wike’s threats and come out to vote APC at Saturday’s election.

“Saturday is your day, come out and vote. They will no longer have the Police they had, they will no longer have the Army they had, we pray that INEC should be neutral, your job is to match out and vote for APC ,we will not write results like Nyesom Wike , so go back to your wards and do door to door”.

Also, in Akuku/Toru local government area, Amaechi told his party supporters to be courageous in exercising their franchise without fear of intimidation

“You see, it is not enough to provide security because if there are no votes we will lose, the implication therefore is that all of you must come out and vote for APC so that we will win the election.”,he said.

Amaechi had earlier paid condolence to the family of slain APC stalwart  Mr. Ofirite Amachree who was killed and burnt beyond recognition by unknown gunmen in Buguma.

Amaechi has also pledged to assist families of slain All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Omoku, Ogba,Egbema/Ndoni local government area of  Rivers state.

Amaechi gave the assurance at the weekend when he visited families of late Frankline Obi and late Chukwuladi Adiela in Omoku, Rivers State.

The late Frankline Obi was the APC chairman of ward 4 and was killed and beheaded by unknown gunmen alongside his pregnant wife and son while late Chukwuladi Adiela was an APC stalwart of ward 14.

Addressing the deceased families, the Minister said, “The President is aware of the death of your son who was our party ward chairman. I personally gave him the photograph of the beheaded body. Everybody must learn to give account of their action or inaction in Omoku. We can’t have police and be experiencing this kind of thing. Internal security is the responsibility of the police so if we have police and keep experiencing this in Omoku it means the police in Rivers State has failed and the people that are been killed are mostly APC members”, he said.

Amaechi  also told the bereaved families that the president was aware of the killings in Omoku and promised that full investigation will be carried out to unravel the killers.

“The President is fully aware of the situation. I was the governor of this state and Omoku wasn’t this bad Stay clear they will kill more. The police can’t claim not to know who the people are because I was governor, the police worked with me, we knew where the criminals were and we went after them.”

Amaechi also assured the people that arrangements have been made to beef up security ahead of the State and National Assembly re- run elections in the state.

“There will be enough security on the election day, there will be enough security to protect lives.
