Criminal Gangs Killed A 9-Year-Old Boy After His Parents Delayed In Paying Ransom

The body of a nine-year-old boy was found dumped on the road on Sunday morning, May 8 in Al-Nasiriya town in Wirshiffana district, Libya. Ehab Al-Maedani had been abducted by Wirshiffana criminal gangs for about 10 days before the kidnappers decided to kill him and throw him on the road as his family failed to pay the LYD2,000 ransom they demanded.
According to Libya Observer, this criminality by Wirshiffana bandits, who are part of the so-called Tribes Army and loyalists to Gaddafi as well as to the Dignity Operation led by renegade General Khalifa Haftar, is so far unnoticed by the international human rights organisations, such as Human Rights Watch and by the UNSMIL, allowing it to become a hub for bandits and criminals.

Friend of Lekan Shonde Claims Late Ronke's Alleged Lover Has Apologized Over The Alleged Affair With Late Ronke Shonde

Unfortunately, the woman is not alive to defend herself. A friend of Lekan Shonde, Gbenga Sholuki, who spoke with The Nation newspaper, claims the alleged lover of late Ronke Shonde has apologized to Lekan for bringing confusion into his home. Lekan had alleged that his wife had been cheating on him with an Abuja-based lover. Sholuki who is the Executive Director, Campaign against Impunity & Domestic Violence, told The Nation, that Lekan had spoken to Ronke's alleged lover on the phone

"Even as we were coming to the police command, he has spoken with his mother-in-law to notify her that he has surrendered. The woman told him that he has done very well for her family and that though they were pained, they have forgiven him and he should not think of suicide again. He also called his wife’s lover and told him he hoped he was happy now that he has destroyed his home. The man begged for forgiveness. When information came to us about what has happened, we told him to come out for the law to take its course. We have known him for a long time and he is not a violent person. We want justice. We are demanding a medical examination to ascertain what really happened. He is a family man. He cherishes his wife and says very pleasant things about her. All we want is justice. If scientific evidence proofs he killed his wife, then, he should go in for it. But what we do not like is his being condemned even before autopsy result comes out,” said Sholuki
Another friend of Lekan, Sunday Nwobi said Lekan loved his wife so much that she fully controlled the finances of his home.
"At the moment he has nothing because even the money he makes was kept in an account the wife has access to. Even the ATM card is with her. Everything was under her. That’s how much he loved her. He has never been violent. I have known him for the past 33 years and I can tell you that he is a gentleman. He was in the same class with my immediate younger brother who has just returned from the United States because of this matter. He attended Ikeja High School. I have been in touch with him since the ugly incident and he sent me over 70 messages threatening to commit suicide. He told me he had quarrel with his wife on alleged infidelity. He said his wife confessed she has man friend, at her place of work. Lekan told me that he caught his wife talking to the man on phone and that she went to Abuja with her lover and they spent five days together. As the wife was confessing and begging him, he said he pushed her aside and went into the room to sleep. That he didn’t talk to her nor touch her because he was angry. Since he usually left the house early (5am) for work every day and returns around 8pm, he said he left that day as usual and that their eight-year-old son was the one who bolted the door, while he used his own key to lock the gate as usual. Lekan told me that he never knew anything has happened to his wife until he was called by his landlady on phone. That his landlady told him his wife had died and that he was a suspect. He said his landlady’s daughter also called him. He was on his way to the house but different people called and told him to run because police were in his house and they were looking for him as the suspect. That was why he fled. But as soon as he contacted me that same day, I kept telling him to come out. His aged father also told him to turn himself in and allow the law to run its course,” he said.
Meanwhile the Lagos state commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said an autopsy will determine the real cause of Ronke's death.
“As you can see, he has just been brought in. It is still an allegation and the police is not the court of law to pronounce anyone guilty or otherwise. He has turned himself in. I confirm he is in our custody. We will ensure we get to the root of the matter. He shall be interrogated and investigation is ongoing. We cannot say for sure what happened but autopsy report will prove cause of death,” he said.
Lekan is being detained at the homicide unit, State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti-Yaba.

I Sold Several Items (Biscuits, Sugar, Vegetable oil, Rice Etc) In The Market Even As A Graduate....... Oba Adewusi, Ooni Of Ife

The Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Friday held youths in Ile Ife spell bound as he narrated how he rose from grass to grace through hard work and determination to make it in life.

Addressing participants at the Ife Youths Economic Summit with the theme: “Intrepreneurship: Building Entrepreneurship Competency and Self-Reliance Among Ife Youths,” sponsored by Oba Ogunwusi and Senator Babajide Omoworare, at Ile Ife, Oba Ogunwusi charged youths across the country to face the reality of the moment and liberate themselves from the shackles of poverty.

The front line monarch told the youths that he started with hawking in the market even as a graduate adding that there was nothing he did not sell apart from human parts to survive.

Oba Ogunwusi told youths to learn from how perseverance, dedication and hard-work eventually changed his story.

Oba Ogunwusi explained that he had always wanted to be on his own and run private businesses, saying his dream almost ended abruptly, when he became father at the age of 20.
“At 20 when people would still be under the care of their parents, I became a father and the horizon was very gloomy. I was torn between Pharaoh and the deep Red Sea. When I left polytechnic, I was thinking about setting up an accounting firm and continue in that line of business.

“On the other hand, I was also contemplating going into business. Buying and selling and being my own boss. Shortly after my NYSC, I experimented with some businesses but I could not cope.
“I could not understand the language spoken in the market. What was it that I didn’t sell? Except human parts. I sold biscuit, vegetable oil, rice, sugar, name it. I kept on working. The going was rough and tough but I was not deterred.
“In the market, I started meeting people. I met Alhaji Aliko Dangote, I met Dr Adeleke, many emirs. Because I was dedicated and focused on what I was doing, I kept on going. Bit by bit, people started noticing me.

“As business improved, I began to divest into other things. Today, I give God all glory for making me to choose to be my own boss. I am one of you. Let’s start something new and create jobs. The future belongs to us and we must seize the initiative”, the monarch concluded.

Husband of Deceased Domestic Violence Victim, Ronke Shonde speaks out from Hiding | Says he did not Kill his Wife

Lekan Shonde, the husband of late Ronke Shonde who is alleged to have died after being beaten by her husband, has spoken out from hiding.

According to Punch, they were able to contact Lekan via the phone of an in-law and the communication has been authenticated by the Police.

Speaking with the newspaper, Lekan denies killing his wife or even beating her on the night she died  he also denied locking his kids in the house.

Here’s what Lekan shared with Punch Metro:

Since I married my wife eight years ago, she has never bought anything into the house. I gave her N5,000 on Saturdays and N3,000 on Tuesdays for soup. I also gave her money to make her hair.

“She was working with GTB as a marketer, but she got sacked three years ago. For that period, I was the one feeding her and taking responsibility for everything in the family. I would wash her pants, bathe the children and buy foodstuffs in the house. She later got a job with a publishing company owned by her uncle.

“But my wife changed sometime in March, when she started dating the general manger of a publishing company. My wife was going to the office from Monday to Sunday and she wasn’t going to church again, all because of this man. She called him ‘Eyitemi’ (My own).

“Last week Friday, she went to Abuja and came back on Monday. She never told me that the lover was there with her. I learnt later that the lover was there and they slept together in the same room for four days.

“When she came back, she didn’t know I was inside the house. She started talking with the man on the phone that he really had fun with him and I didn’t know how to make love. She again said her private parts were paining her.”

It was around 9pm on Thursday. We had paid our nanny N20,000. Then we needed to pay our children’s teachers N30,000. I discovered she had taken N20,000 and when I asked her to return my money, she said she had spent it.

“I was angry because for the past three months, she didn’t allow me to have sex with her. I pushed her hand away from me on the staircase and I left her. She never tumbled or fell. In fact that night, I bought the food that we both ate because she said she didn’t want to cook.

“I didn’t know anything had happened to her until Friday when I saw her on the staircase. I thought she was still pretending. I just left her and walked away.”

“Jide, her family’s second child lived with me for three to four years. Their eldest daughter, Bolatito, has lived with me too.

“Although I am not a saint, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke. I am a responsible man. The problem with my wife was that she was temperamental. She shouted at me whenever she talked.

“I am a Lagos boy and I can be in this Lagos for the next 30 years and nobody would see me.”

Family members of the late Ronke were also contacted by Punch Metro and while the family is still in mourning they emphasized that they have forgiven Lekan and pleaded with him not to commit suicide.
